Hi,

My OBC seems to have packed in too. After a bit of googling I thought it might have been the backlight as some people say that can be an issue, which can be resolved by just getting another internal bulb. But looking at mine, i think it's more than that. As the LCD part looks corrupt.

A assume these can't be fixed (reasonably?).

If I source a spare one the same, is it swap out/in? or are there any coding issues to the car?

The thing I used on it most, was ->M for how many miles of fuel are left! :) It's not a big loss, but it would be nice to get it working again.

Suggestions?

It's plug and play.
I may still have a spare one if you need a replacement ( need to check to see if still got )

Just thought I'd give a quick update in this thread since it's the right topic for OBC. I kinda updated this in another thread about alarm indirectly. But I'll do it here, in case of use for anyone else.

So, in summary I took the unit out and took it apart. This was very easy, it just has a few spring clips. When you do 2 loose part fall off the main board. These are the buttons and the LCD display. To reassemble, is dead easy too, just rest those 2 parts back in place and click shell back together. Easy.

Anyway, so when I took the case part I saw this...

I board has been pulled of the case a little. The front board is connects to to another internal board via a ribbon cable. I didn't remove this.
Two things of note here;
1. LCD is damaged. The pixels you can see like the "+" and "oC" are broken and will not light (see later)
2. Damage on top left of PCB, zoomed as below

This looked FRIED to me, so was about to give up! lol
Anyway I cleared it up with a wire brush to see. and it ended up looking like this.

Looked surprising good.
I think it was water damaged leading to shorting.
So... I thought I'd put it back together and see out of curiosity
and .. hey presto!! ...

It works!
Apart from the broken pixels - which make it useless!! :/

So long and short, It's just the LCD, which would be a very easy fix to slot in.

If anyone else has LCD problems on these, it would be a very easy home fix. *IF* you can source the LCD.. which I can't.

So, that's where I am.

Anyone know where to get replacement LCD for this from, let me know. I see you can get them for other OBC's, like the 9-button one, some cheap ones from Ali-express too. But I have had zero luck for this one.
