Hello, I am new to this site having developed an interest in acquiring a Z3
I live in the Wirral, Merseyside/ Cheshire/Flintshire area and
would be interested to meet other local owners or to speak about any car that may be for sale. I will be interested in joining in any activities too. Previous experience is with a Triumph TR but now looking for something a bit more modern.
    Dave.

Big thank you to all who welcomed me here . I’m a bit slow finding my way around your site but I’ll get used to it no doubt.

Nodzed asked me what model I was looking for and I am still open on that.
I am not thinking of a large engine though and was initially attracted to a 2000 6 cylinder. There are a lot more 1.9/4s it seems and I hear they are good smooth engines too.
Hopefully I will learn something from many of you out there. Also I guess I would compromise if the car and the deal were good!

    Many thanks
    Dave

Hi Dave I would get out there and have a test drive of the engine sizes your interested in then go from there. Welcome from Oxfordshire and good luck with your search.

Lots of fanatical 1.9 owners on here  who will I'm sure offer advice. If you are after the smaller engine then the worlds your oyster, loads out there to choose from especially on the face book pages. I would say though that the 2.2 6 pot is the best all rounder, enough poke to have plenty of fun without massive running costs and you get that 6 pot exhaust note plus you get a good selection of optional extras on the 2.2, again plenty out there so you can be choosy.

It’s interesting there is so many out there as I don’t see many. Also interesting that the 1.9 is so popular.
I gave up face book a few years ago I’m afraid so I guess I’ll miss those.
If you have any more info it would be appreciated, like thoughts on the various gear boxes or the desirability of the powered hood? Thanks, dave

Thank you for the welcome Al, and advice. May be a bit easier said than done unless I can find a local group.
I will keep looking around though, thanks.

Yes thank you. I have been looking at those and also on car and classic.
I thought I was looking for a 2,0 but I’m beginning to wonder more now about 1.9 & 2.2, if they look good otherwise.

Hi @Dave Evo, :welcome: to the forum too from another Dave, in Staffordshire. All good advice above and I would reiterate to test drive as many different models you can. I have had many happy days out in my 2.2 and have never had a problem keeping up with the bigger engined cars on runs. The biggest thing though is to buy on condition not mileage. Good luck in your search:thumbsup:
