Well here's how I fitted my Dashcam.
1. I mounted the camera behind the rear view mirror as is standard practice the keep it out of the drivers eye line. An added benefit of my black sun strip means that the camera is virtually invisible from outside the car.
2. To run the power cable from the camera around the top of the windscreen required it to locate under the screen trim - problem - cable too thin to stay tucked up under the trim. Solution - get a 12" length of screen wash tube and split it down the side( best to spiral the cut rather than a straight cut as this keeps the cable inside the washer tube better) When you get to the edge of the screen follow the ridge of the trim round the pillar trim, then lift the edge of the rubber seal and tuck the cable behind the edge all the way to the bottom. Route the cable behind the trim beneath the glove box a towards the cig lighter port in the console. This is a temporary measure as you need an ignition fed supply for automatic use of the camera. Mine will be connected into the ignition fed live to my radio as soon as I can get it done.
3. This camera is HD, has GPS and kph available if you want to use it. It comes with a download software for a GPS player which plays your selected items alongside the GPS map of the location. I've found that my Windows media player works best for playing, copying and saving files to be honest. It comes with a fairly easy to read (Chinese translation) manual, a power lead, USB lead and a spare sticky pad for the windscreen mount.
You can also buy spare mounts either with GPS or not and power cables, so I plan to fit my other car with these so that I can simply swap the camera between the cars, as and when.
4. I hope this may be of use to some of you guys and if I've missed anything or you want more info just yell.
Cheers, Tony.
p.s. Sandy these are a lot easier on the arms, I know, I've been the "camera man" in Florida for years.
