My Halfords HDC200 dash cam has decided to go into a continuous cycle of going on and off. It doesn’t even try to record anything.
Anyone else had this issue? How do I fix it?
Is there a reset button on the back of the unit, usually a small hole you push a pin into to reset it. If there is plug it in to power and press the reset button to reboot the unit. Sometimes happens on a mirror camera I have on my daily drive, reset using the reset button usually clears it and puts it right. Mine was a £16 ebay purchase and despite the occassional glitch works well, it has a reverse camera on it as well. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-3-HD-D...219344?hash=item443878d610:g:h3wAAOSwj6Zcd7ZZ
Needs a constant power supply to keep the time set as the internal battery in the unit dosn't last long without a constant power supply. Battery drain is not a problem as its power draw is minimal. I just use the on/off button to close it down when finished driving. Putting the car into reverse wakes it up and opens up the display, have to run through the display options using one of the other buttons to choose the view you want, I use the forward view but you can have a front and rear view split in the display.
I bought a new Dash cam from Halfords which did this and then another 2 of the same model with different faults. Went back to relatively cheap Chinese (eBay) ones.
Re the reset button, it's better to use a straightened paper clip leg than a sharp pin as you can feel for the button better.
I had one which when I downloaded footage to my PC there was no sound, but, when I uploaded it to YouTube hey person the sound was there. Also on play back with the SD card in the camera itself there was sound.
