Hi me again, another problem.
Been out today playing with car as the high level brake light wasnt working so traced it down and there was a couple of broken wires between the bootlid and the car. Repaired them all and now the central locking on the boot works too so bonus lol.
Anyway. Id recently put an amp in the boot and yesterday it died. So bought another and fitted that, anyway when i was tracing the wire for the brake light i lifted the boot carpet and found it damp but only on the passenger side where i had the amp so that must have been why the other died.
So my question guys anyone got any idea where the water is coming in. I did make a hole in the grommet passenger side of the cabin in the well where the roof sits to run wires so i will put a bit of mastic there, but do anyone have any other suggestions
Thanks

Usually a poor fitting or degraded 3rd brake light seal or aerial seal.

Just order a aerial seal off ebay thank you.
as its damp under the carpet where i would have thought if it was the 3rd brake light it would be wet on top of the carpet

Although this is not your current issue I think, I had a leaky taillight as well on 1 occasion. Just food for thought. That caused my battery compartment to accumulate about 2 inches of water in about a month in the Seattle area.

If the 3rd brake light seal or the aerial grommet does not cure it then you have a poor soft top to body seal, the water is trickling there and sliding down the cables that go from the cabin to the boot and into the boot . check that you don't have water under the seats under the carpet by removing the passenger side seat for example and lifting the carpets - you might be surprised.
