Hi everyone !
after a long absence I returned ;)

may be someone remembers my work on the mirror conversion project.
the last post was about 3d printed trimmed and glued prototypes which were successfully installed after 3 years spent on the shelf ( click to see it )

but in 2021 I have finished the KIT is I saw it at the beginning of the z3m mirror conversion project!

Kit is designed to give every z3 owner a chance to convert their stock non M mirrors to M
it is 100% suitable for coupe and roadsters, RHD and LHD , headed and not heated
also it can be used to refurb your broken M mirrors

NOW KITS are not printed BUT MOLDED

kit consists of 2 mirror bodies and mounting hardware

it requires to use parts of your stock mirrors - Bases , motors and harness
you will need to buy z3m mirror glasses and butyl tape (same es used for z3 soft top replace) or 2 side adhesive tape

after assemble your mirrors will look 100% as stock z3m mirrors

please read

1) You will need to disassemble your stock mirrors.

2) you will need to use from your stock mirrors :
-bases , rubbers
- motors and wiring
3) you will need to buy separately mirror glasses, butyl tape or adhesive tape

Conversion recommendations

1. Uninstall your stock mirrors, disassemble to parts

- Wiring will stay installed on the door

- Unplug wiring from mirror motor

- Uninstall the locking washer on the bottom of the base - it will let to disassemble mirror to parts and separate mirror base

2. After Paint work

- Use 2sided adhesive tape on the bottom of the base around the pin hole

- Insert the new pin (included in mounting kit) - it will be glued by previously installed adhesive tape

- Mount base with pin on the door using stock mounting screws - thread the wiring through the pin hole

- Use 2 sided adhesive on the conversion mirror bottom side

- Thread the conversion mirror body on the pin - do the same to the wiring - conversion mirror body will be glued to the base (it will prevent spool)

- Thread wiring through the second mounting part that will attach on the pin

- Plug wiring to the motor (use color mach marked on the plugs of motor)

- Screw motor to the conversion mirror body using stock screws

- Install mirror glass (buy separately)

IMPORTANT NOTE

this is aftermarket conversion kit

All upgrades you do on your own risk about legacy, safety and so on

Professional Paint work will be needed

Some fitment corrections could be needed

Professional installation is recommended - depending on your skills - installation time from 30min to 120min

Very interesting project. However why only a small production batch after all the development, the hardest and most challenging part, has been completed?

thanks;)

honestly it was not the first batch, previous batch all was sold on ebay and instagram. But ebay have changed paypal platform to payoneer which is blocked in Russia.
then i stopped selling for a little time.
About the most interesting and hard part - to develop the kit - you are right;)) selling is interesting but developing something is more interesting;)))

I might be willing to take the plunge.

Two questions I have, will the mirrors be foldable after the conversion?

And the other one, can old mirrors wit a broken spindle be used for this project? I have some I could experiment with.

Thanks for your questions, Mario.
1) after conversion they will fold only to disassemble, but not for parking

2) yes,it is the main idea of my project- you can make new M or repair broken M mirrors just using parts from stock mirrors which are 100% same for all types m/non m, rhd/lhd
- this parts are bases and motors with wiring

spindles are cracking and they are not needed

Hello
are you still making these conversion kits ?
Hello David! Happy New Year!;)
I have few kits available and not going to make new kits. Are you interested?
also i have posted oem m mirror scan files available to buy and download to self printing on cults3d.com
But i am still sure that 3d printed parts are not 100% good to use (depends on material you use)
My kits are not printed but molded. Anyway 3d files are goor alternative.
and i have carbon fiber prototypes 100% made from carbon (not laminated) conversion kits. But i am not sure if i will make them-very expensive

Thanks for quick reply.
yes I am interested, how much for a set posted to Cardiff.
I have been reading your fitting instruction, the hollow pin you supply to thread the cable though, does it just pass through your made
mirror body or screw through to support it, or is it held in place with the double sided tap you mention.
Thanks
Dave

Double sided tape or butyl tape (same as used to hold and prevent water leak) is only needed to previously fixation and better positioning. And main holding function is for pin.
i will find info about shipping price. Sorry but after all this sanction i was not able to sell any kit.. not sure if it is possible. But i will try. please PM me your shipping info. I will find if it is possible to send. Then if price will be ok for you, i will send it. Only after you receive the package you will send money to my paypal.
it is only way i can offer because i am not 100% sure if it will arrive and how many weeks will shipping take.It is not 100% safe for me as for seller but my reputation will be clear;)
