Hi Alex, I only changed the large pan gasket and filter. The magnet in mine had done it's job, there were no large bits of metal but it had a good coating of "bits". If I recall right I used between 6-7 litres of oil/fluid. I used a large syringe which held approx. 1Ltr.

Many thanks again Tony I called at local BMW garage they r very helpful but could not determine the correct total volume of oil something to do with a change in the BMW system and certain records were deemed no longer necessary ( especially if something was a lifetime item) I had determined from the oil i took out it was over 6 litres but could not b precise as I inadvertently lost some in to the red tank( I had a container on top of it but spilt some,it's a balance thing due to age) many thanks Tony,I am putting the new oil in as soon as tool arrives,I could probably improvise something with vw tool but think the other tool should be handy and useful for other fluids, Alex
