I have had some annoying squeaks and rattles, and now located and fixed two of them, and just the last one to find.
1st one was the accelerator pedal squeaking......kept thinking it was the door or window rubber, but a squirt with silicon spray and nice and quiet now.
2nd one was an occasional rattle from the engine somewhere.....found it today when I was checking the oil.
The bracket that holds the fuel pipes was loose and must have been hitting the sump. The sump casting is damaged where a nut is meant to be held. Fixed it by using a bolt with a larger head and although a bit fiddly , managed to get a washer, shakeproof washer and nut on and tighten it so it now holds the bracket ok.
Just see the nut to the right of the dipstick tube
My spare sump is ok and the casting has the slot intact , but I don't think its worth changing over just for that. Too much like hard work
The third rattle sounds like a nut or bolt rolling around, somewhere low down behind the drivers seat possibly where the roof frame bolts on. That might mean taking out all the trim and rear boxes.
Thats a job for another day
