So 1st mot this morning 2017 Audi S3
Needed some bits to get through test 2 offside tyres 1for damage 1 for wear 235/35/19 tyres not too expensive guy wanted budgets just under £80 a unit fitted.
His offside side repeater not working (led one in wing mirror ) genuine item £29.88 + vat again not to ridiculous.
Now for the sting in the tail.
The offside front drl/ position lamp not working vehicle has Audi full led matrix headlight so dealer only just for us to buy it in before fitting £1258 Inc vat 😯😯😯😯
Thought I had heard the guy wrong at first when he told me the price

I thought wow if you needed 2 headlight for one of them not much change from £3k fitted.

This was known when these headlights were first fitted - many threads about it on PH.

It only comes home to roost when they become eligible for MOT, as before that they are owned by leasehire.

£1258 each? I wonder if there's any Audi dealers out there willing to pay me to go round with a little hammer tapping headlights until they break.
It was bad enough back when Mondeos were new, one of the firms cars got a stone through one of the headlights and Ford only sold them as pairs, both mounted on a bar that ran across the front of the car and couldn't be done individually. Probably different by now, but it's the kind of thing that puts fleet buyers off when it comes to buying new cars.

Another hidden big charge that I heard about is a front bumper replacement now needs £500 spent getting the radar sensor realigned and calibrated. £25k for the kit, so no DIY.

We are starting to see issues with wheel alignments on vehicles fitted with radar adaptive cruise control and lane departure systems .
If these systems get knocked too far out of alignment they require to be re calibrated.

Factor these into insurance claims and theres going to be many more cars written off, plus increases in policy prices I should think.

Thing is, if premiums go up as a result of these repair costs we'll all cop for a share of that.
