ok, I can sent a package to the other side of the world and it will get there before a package posted at the same time to France, do they use donkeys or what, I don't get it, posted an item 3rd Jan and it gets there 4th Feb:eek: this isn't the first time either, what is wrong with the French postal service - anyone shed any light on this:banghead:

1 month for a birthday card from the North East of England to Paris :wideyed:.

Well it beats this country, half the letters I send never get there :(

I rarely have any issues, but France and sometimes Spain is shocking, hell I have even sent seatbelt repair guides to Mexico and they got there fine.

If you think that's bad ask @Southernboy about his service in SA!! Having worked(?) for Canadapost most major delays are due to customs and not the PO! Service in countries that have privatized seem the most expensive and have the worst services. JIM

It's not always great in the other direction. I had a parcel which took 3 days to get from China to Tamworth and more than a week to get the last few miles to Leamington.

Most of the time postage is a mess, but I had a big surprise with an eBay item sent from China : I got it "free postage" in 9days!
I still keep the envelope nailed on the wall of my garage.:D

Here's a recent example of the PO service in South Africa, and it's a description of the "norm" vs an exception.
On Dec 9th an envelope was posted to me from Germany using DHL as their carrier. It was handed to the SA postal service on the 15th Dec.
I finally received it at my local PO on the 25th of January.
Perhaps technology will eventually advance to the point where every home will have a replicator, and items posted to us will arrive as digital code and be replicated in our homes minutes after being ordered and we can all say goodbye to those hundreds of people who simply don't seem to be able to handle the volumes of packages requiring processing every day.

UK postage is crap because the posties spend more effort and time stuffing junk mail in out letter boxes  (not a poke at the posties)

The French postal service is mainly manned by the French.=))

a replicator eh, now that would be useful for post from Amsterdam=)) or even better could it be used to replicate money:)
as well as the replicator i need a tiny black hole to stuff all my rubbish into.

We already have money replicators - called PayPal etc etc. virtual money - it appears in an account just by pressing some keys...:)

...more virtual are the bitcoin...transactions are running already!

I agree Dan, I ordered a lot of stuff from China and it's always free postage. I notified a co that my parcel hadn't arrived so they immediately sent out another which arrived miraculously in five days. The first arrived four days later and I asked if they wanted it back or ?? They told me to keep it and apologized over and over. I don't know how their postal service works but all countries should have a look!! JIM
