Needed to move the car that has been sitting but it cranks but not a titter. This car has sat for a while but whenever I need to move it it starts first turn. Not showing any fuel so I threw a gallon in but still the same, had a quick look under the bonnet and noticed the intake boot had rotted so I replaced it, still the same. I scanned it for codes and it came up with intake camshaft sensor, strange it should go from sitting but I have replaced it. Still no start and still getting the same error code. I suspect lack of fuel, what's the easiest way of checking for fuel on a 2.8?

When replacing the inlet camshaft sensor I found out that the allen bolt that holds the sensor in had rounded off, normally you can jam a torx bit in but this one was too far gone. Access is a pig. I removed the Vanos, oil filter and cap and undid the clap bolt that holds the power steering reservoir allowing it to be dropped out of the way. I ordered from eBay 11Pcs Impact Damaged Bolt Nut Remover Extractor Socket Tool Removal Wrench UK for £8.50, turned up the next day. Used a 3/8 extension bar and gave it a tap and the allen bolt undid straight away, almost too easy!
Great peace of kit and worth having in your tool box.

You can try spraying a little carb. cleaner into the inlet before cranking. If you don't get any firing you have ignition woes.

Forgot to say that I have tried some starting fluid but didn't even cough so the fuel may be a red herring.

Give me a set of carbs any day.
