Usual motor industry newspaper rumours maybe?

https://www.automobilemag.com/news/whats-going-on-bmw-future-strategy-products/

Like Audi and Mercedes, BMW is struggling to make money on cars that retail at less than €40,000, and roughly the same amount in U.S. currency. The rear-wheel-drive 1 Series, the 2 Series, and lower-trim 3 Series variants contribute very little if anything at all to the bottom line, and the company has established a list of doomed models. In addition to the three-door 1 Series, 2 Series Gran Tourer, and 3 Series GT, tombstones are being chiseled for the 2 Series convertible, standard-wheelbase 7 Series, Z4 replacement (sorry, Toyota), and both two-door 8 Series variants.

Read this earlier, certainly doesn't look promising.

Interesting read, a few to many models on the production line I suppose.

I have thought for a long time that there are too many models. All companies are obsessed with getting bigger instead of concentrating on a reasonable size and good quality. None of the new generation appeal to me anyway, I will stick to my classic Z.

Not surprising as the new Z4 has not set the industry on fire. Also when you think there is a series 1 to 8 and the X range 1 to 6
When all they need are a Compact, saloon and executive in the Series models 1,3 and 5 or 7 and they only need a small and larger X series such as they first had with the X3 and X5
Then they could just do the one roadster with the 3 variables like in the past Z Roadster, Coup and M

Did see this article earlier. Does that mean Zed's become collectors cars ? Ha, not with my luck . . . Maybe ?

While at a car show at Lotherton Hall recently in the 'German' section, a BMW garage pulled in opposite with an M5 and a new Z4 M40. Engines had to be revved, the M5 sounded very . . . Muscular. Then the Z4 tried. Hmmmm. Not immediately impressed if I'm honest. A bit . . . Sewing machiney . . .

Maybe I'm wrong on that, as the interior did look very nice . . .

So many new pre registered new Z4s for sale in dealers showrooms, an indication of poor sales if ever I saw one

Sorry, I couldn't make myself read all that crap, because I shall never buy one and not just because they're downright UGLY. The prices of these hi-end EVs are just astronomical.

So much for pre ordering then. I guess it didn't happen.

The obsession with electric cars must be distorting the market in all areas.

Personally the newer the BMW the less likely I would buy one , much prefer the old ones just have to work out how to convert em to batteries when they tax petrol off the roads.....
