Just got back from a 60 mile drive and found this.:mad::mad:

Already one car down for a few days. This won't repair so need to chase a new tyre. Might have to replace both rears otherwise there will be over 4mm difference.:mad::mad:

O no @Redline :p
What a pain ........:(
Hope you get it fixed soon ;)

It looks like the earliest I can get a replacement tyre is Wednesday - and that isn't certain. I might have to change type of tyres :-(

Ooh that's nasty, looks like a cable clip .

It is - and its too close to the wall to repair.

I can't get a replacement Vred for 4-5 days minimum. Don't have a low profile jack or something to raise the car so I can get a jack underneath so I can get one of the spare set of wheels off Gails with winters on it. A bit stuck at the moment.

Don't want to run different tyres on each side.

Could you drive your car onto some wood blocks so then you'd have enough clearance to get a jack under. ?

I don't have anything suitable to hand. I got rid of a load of stuff I'd been hoarding for years to create enough space for all Jamie's stuff when he came home from uni. Simply have no space left for anything at the moment.
Time to go buy a low profile trolley jack. Will see if I can get an on the drive supplier that can get Vreds in a reasonable time.

Has it actually gone flat, the area around the sidewalls usually are a bit thicker. Pull it and see what happens.

You could run the wheel onto the kerb and go in from the rear with the Jack maybe Ian?

Tony.

No worries. I needed one so have been and got a low profile trolley jack and stands from halfrauds. Have swapped both rears for two of the spares with winters on. Made the job so much easier. At least I can drive around town if need be which helps because Gail is without her car for a couple of days.
My local tyre place is trying to get me a replacement vred. Might get two and keep the good one in case I need to swap a part worn again. Is it better to swap both or is it ok to run one tyre at 5mm and a new one? Don't want to damage the diff by winding it up.
Of course three of the studs wouldn't come out. Ended up cutting 3' off a scaffolding pole to use as a lever - worked a treat.

No it's still inflated but could easily get pulled out. Don't want to end up damaging the rims if it did go down.
I have a set of 225x45x17 sottozero rft winters so I've put two of those on temporarily.
No point in pulling it. There's at least 8-10mm in the tyre. I wouldn't trust it even if it didn't deflate - no point in wrecking the car for the sake of a tyre.

Running a 5mm tyre against a new one at 8-9mm wouldn't hurt the diff. Ian under normal driving. Might not be a good idea if you were on the track somewhere though.

Tony.
