Cost to respray?

Has anyone had their car resprayed?

Mine was badly treated in a previous life and as a result has mismatching panels, polyfiller cracks and scratches everywhere. I'm torn between trying to find a donor car and strip all the panels or having it resprayed.

Does anyone have any experience of either process?

Cheers,
Shane

Plenty of guys on here have had full body resprays and a good quality job will be £2k to £2.5k, and more if you require replacement panels.
You may be able to lower the cost by doing the prep work yourself

As Gary said quite a few of us have had a respray. My 2.2 was done a couple of years ago. I did no prep at all just took it down to the body shop. Full respray, new outer sills, refurbed wheels for £2,400:nailbiting:.

A (fairly) long thread but if you have some time you can see what happened to mine here - https://zroadster.org/threads/todays-the-day-the-zeds-gone.9765/

Not long had my Imola done, I stripped the shiny and rubber bits off first. £2200

I dropped mine off and picked it up all done bar the final valet. £2200, I have however had one or two issues with it so be careful who you pick.

About £3k if memory serves for a full 'panel off' respray including 3 new panels and cill covers. Less VAT as I paid cash.

I paid £2400 6 years back for a respray which included two new wing mirrors and a rear quarter panel replacement - BMW approved body shop - still looks the business - cosmos black.:)

I'd love to get mine done. Was quoted around £1,700 to remove all the scuffs/chips/dents and part respray but can't justify spending that sort of money :( They suggested a mop and polish would make a huge difference so may go with that for the time being.

A mop and polish makes a huge difference. Had mine done after the new paint went flat and the difference is night and day.

I better get that on the list of things to do then. First though is a new roof which is booked in at the beginning of Sept.

Have you considered a vinyl wrap ? Will probably still need some prep work but this and the wrap can easily be tackled by yourself if you use decent vinyl and take your time it really isn't that difficult.

I have done a couple of cars before and plan to do my own Z3 soon, as you say patience is required but compared to tackling a respray it is so much easier, safer and cheaper, also if you don't like it when finished you can take it off !
