Evening all.

I bought my Z3 as an MOT failure, and the last thing I need to repair before I take it for a re-test is: "1.1.11(c) Offside Rear Brake pipe excessively corroded" (this was a major, although the same thing on the nearside was an advisory).

I've bought replacement pipe, flaring tool and connectors have a good idea what I'm doing to replace them - but my question is I'm not sure which section(s) actually need replacing!! Below are some photos of the offside rear brake pipe. Can anyone see anything that would be worthy of a major MOT failure? or will it be the whole thing? I can't see anything obviously different between the two sides that would result in one being a major and the other an advisory.

Thanks in advance!

(sorry, not the easiest subject to photo, but I can look more closely at different areas or angles if any of you knowledgable folk think you see anything noteworthy)

All the rear hard lines look well past it and need replacing as to the flex hoses, the ferrals are well rusty, the rubber will also be at the end of its life. I would budget on knufer or copper hard line as the replacement and replace the flex pipes with stainless braided pipes. If your going to do it yourself invest in a decent flaring tool and new unions to fit to the pipes. All available on ebay at decent prices.

Yeah I have got all the bits I need mate, I am just struggling to see why one side was a major and the other an advisory 🧐

Apart from “ does it really matter ?” It down to the testers opinion. Looking at the pipe in picture 2 I would’ve failed that 2 or 3 years ago! How that hasn’t burst isn’t much short of a miracle.
