Z3 Agean Blue Edition 2.0
Hi All,

Really hope someone out there can help me make sense of this!

I am having some bodywork done on my year 2000 Z3 Agean Blue individual edition over the winter period. This includes some work on the near side rear wing, which was fitted with a nasty after market aerial. I want to put this back to original stock.

My first question relates to the internal grommet that sits between the inner and outer wing.

Looking at various sites where I select the drawing for this year of vehicle they seem to be pointing me towards part number 65218411561 - this looks like it is 4-5inches long. However, I have seen examples, including one on this forum with a shorter grommet which looks about half this length i.e. 2-2.5 inches. I think this is part number 65218389555.

My other question relates to the amplifer bracket. There seem to be two versions: one part number 65218389554 and part number 65218411560. Again sites point me towards the part ending 560.

It looks like parts ending 560, 561 and 562 are for the facelift models - the latter being the external grommet. Can anyone out there confirm this is correct, or if not, what parts do I need?

Many thanks for any help.

Regards,

Nick

If the grommet is this one, it's around 3.5" long and you can have this one for a couple of quid postage. It's no use to me. I don't have the outer sealing grommet as mine perished and split! From a 2001 car BTW.

Great effort taking your rear wing off to measure for a forum member
Well, you know, if it helps someone out.
I also took the rest of the panels off to measure some other stuff for others too......now where did I put them?

I knew this was the palce to ask - people here really go that extra mile!

That looks like exactly like the part I was being recomended.

Thanks for the kind offer of the spare one you have, but I'm going to push out the boat and get a new one.

Paying enough to sort out the body work, so a new one of these is not going to make a huge imapct!

Nick

If you need an outer grommet make sure you get right one there are 2.
One for face-lift and pre face-lift ( 6cyl) wide body and the other for pre face-lift ( 4cyl) narrow body.

I can clean it if you like. It will look just like new (they don't really wear out). :)

And, you can't see it when the wing is back on?

Tony.

Hi Pond,

Checked out the prices for a new one and all I can say is - How Much!!

If your offer is still open on your used one, I will be more than happy to take it.

Send me a message where I can send payment to.

Many thanks.

Nick

H Tony,

Didn't look there I must admit - just had a quick squint around eBay and some other sites. Costs were £10-20

Even at £6.00 for new, a couple of quid for a good used is still the most cost effective solution.

Regards,

Nick
