I was brave enough to say yes to this project. Car was delivered on Saturday and 2 days later I got only a wheel off, cleaned the damaged area and found out that there is an issue with a roof ! Red light is blinking all the time and not even the windows roll down. However separate button for windows works fine and all the windows are functioning. After doing some research I came to a conclusion that first of all need to scan the error codes to find where to start. I was just a bit worried to find a bit of water in a storage compartment on the left side in the boot. On the right hand side where the module all the cable was some water but the control module seems to be well protected with a cover.

Tomorrow getting a new front rear wishbone (which was split apart in accident) and a stabiliser which popped out as well. So hopefully that will be enough to make a car drivable! Follow my journey !

Hi and welcome from me, there’s well documented info on here about transferring the roof motor to the boot. There use to be someone on here who used to do it and get even grubby motors working. Unfortunately not a user name comes to mine as I’m Z3M based so won’t retain all the info but a search on here will set you right. Good luck with your project though.

The E89 roof motor is fitted in the boot from the factory so that shouldn't be a problem. They do suffer from leaks into the boot though.

Finally got the car running however. The roof is not working getting codes a691 and a691. Also the boot stopped working. Doesnt open neither with a key, neither with handle. Any ideas?
