Cooling system refresh—any advice?

Hi all,

I’ve tried searching for this as I’m sure it’s been posted a million times, but no luck.

Anyway, I want the standard Z3 preventative cooling system overhaul doing and I really need a list of parts to send to my garage. Budget isn’t a problem—I just want it doing right. Mine is a 2.8 built in Oct ‘98.

This is a list that a local Z3 owner sent me, but I have no idea if he’s forgotten certain parts or if it’s actually complete overkill:

all hoses, fan, pullies (water pump and power steering), fan clutch, thermostat, expansion tank, expansion tank return line, expansion tank lower line, propeller on the water pump, water pump, thermostat housing, radiator mounts, and radiator.

N.B. Whilst I can just about change my oil and filters, I’m not very clever with cars—so please don’t waste your time attempting to advise me on self-replacement because I am far too dim. Thank you!

If you go on real.oem and enter your vin number and then look under Engine - the full parts list for the different sections of the cooling system is shown. Note: Z3's are in Classic section.
This link will get you to hoses section - you need to scroll around to get others.

That sounds a bit OTT to me, I changed my water pump, thermostat and idler at about 100,000 miles. the rest just gets a good inspection with drive belts removed every spring and the pulleys and bearings checked. Still going strong at 170,000.
