Posted a video yesterday of a ticking noise under the hood. Got a good response, spun bearing, lifter tic, etc. The question I got from one bloke was why was my fan on? Unless the motor was hot. As far as I know the fan always seems to be on even when first started. Am I missing something here?

Which fan, is it the electric fan in front of the radiator or the viscous fan behind the radiator?

Well I am assuming, unless it is a 4 pot engine, that it is a viscous fan, then it's driven directly off the engine via a viscous coupling so it will always be spinning, only the speed will vary depending on engine temp. Some more info or photos would help to answer correctly.

Glad that answed your query. People try to help, but we don't necessarily always get it right. There is however a wealth of knowledge on this forum and members are always happy to help if they can.

I know, I have plenty of dumb questions, and no one’s been unhelpful yet👍
