Right, then...

Searching could not find the answer, before I launch into this...

Did a cooling system refresh today (radiator, pump, hoses, coolant tank). In my brilliance, I failed to turn the heater on when I drained it...so there’s a quantity of the old coolant (which was a clear blue) that I did not account for when I refilled it....so in went 5 liters of coolant (BMW Blue) and about 2 liters of distilled water. Mind, I haven’t done the cool level check, but I’ve driven it and it’s solid in the middle of the temp gauge. Only concern is that I figure the coolant mix is closer to 2/3 coolant to 1/3 water. How bad is this? Should I drain some and backfill it with water? How exact does it have to be?

Mind, I thought I was replacing the original water pump, but when I pulled it out...metal impeller...so that didn’t need a replace.

Thankx!

Personally I would have changed the water pump anyway. The only danger is not the impellers coming loose. Metal (all) water pumps have a certain lifetime too - the bearings can go and do. So unless you know the history of the car and when it was last changed it’s sensible to change it while the car is apart.
