New to this site. But I do have a question. 06 Roadster stereo..... Question, where the h___ is the amplifier? It isn't in the normal place at the battery like my 05 was. Thinking about upgrading a bit and cannot locate the danged Amp :-(. It looks as if it might be behind the seats in the boot upright behind the carpeted panel, but I hate to pull that apart and find nothing). Anyone have a clue? I will say that a number of things on this car are a bit odd, built in June of 06 so just a few days before it would have been an 07 and some items I have found (Tire size for one) are indicative of the 07 with the M suspension. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Have a GREAT day mates.

Not sure of your setup, basic stereo has an amp in the footwell drivers side attached to the speaker, (passenger side for UK), HK is in the boot, behind the carpet right side, and there may be a sub with its own amp between the seats.

You don't mention which model but going on it being an 06 you have a Z4, so it depends on which of the standard audio systems you have. Basic HiFi doesn't have a separate amp, but the HiFi and Top Hi-Fi do. A good starting point to figure out which on you have is the number of speakers and the writing on the head unit in the dashboard.
Breaking down the VIN will help figure out which you have. Usually on an E85 if it has an amp it's in the battery well (as you mentioned) or behind the carpet against the firewall in the boot/trunk.

It is HiFi with the BMW Business CD. Yes, 06 Z4 Roadster. I am also a sucker for underpowered roadsters....I rather miss my 08 XKR sometimes, but driving a go cart on steroids is fun

It is a 2006 Z4 Roadster. Correct VIN is: 4USBU33546LW68567. That is not my battery location in this picture. Got it figured out anyway, but THANK YOU very much for your effort and have a lovely day.
