I think they started fitting the new connectors to the seats first, which is why there is a conversion loom available. At some stage during the facelift run, they changed the loom to match.
My 2000 2.0 (face lift) had early connectors on, which was perfect as I bought some early ///M Coupe seats so they plugged straight in.
It's always best to check whats under the seats of both sets to confirm before starting.
