hi I have bought a set of adjustable coil overs and whilst it's stripped down I will fit new top mounts. My question is should I fit standard front top mounts or fit adjustable ones to alter the camber. I will only be lowering about 30mm so are they necessary? Also do they make the ride harsher as standard ones have a lot of rubber on them. Any info will be greatly received.

Fit the new bits, you'll have to get the tracking done anyway, always advisable after messing about with the front end. Ask whoever does it if the camber is OK, they'll probably tell you that it's not adjustable but depending on the gear they use they should be able to tell you how it is. Adjustable top mounts are available, got mine off ebay, think they came from Poland, and certainly made a difference.
Should have said, they didn't make it harsher, just more positive. Never been a fan of great lumps of rubber in the steering/suspension, too many years on bikes I guess.

Camber adjustable too mounts will be much more harsh than standard.

If you are looking by 30mm you don't need fancy topmounts

However they can be useful for setting the car up as the z3 has very little adjustment available as standard

I have a solid mounts with adjustable camber. I’ve no idea if it’s noticeably harsher or not as I’ve always had solid mounts on the front and firm suspension/low profile tyres for years now. It is not ‘wooly’ like standard cars but I also have poly bushes throughout.

It has -1degree dialled (the suspension set up place wanted 1,5-2 degrees ideally).
It make a difference in feel for sure (the camber).

Pop down and have a drive in mine if you like, will be interesting to compare back to back. Plenty of crap roads to check harshness especially this time of year :)

What brand of suspension is it as some come with front mounts (maybe in the box?)

Cheers Dino I will have to pop down and see you. I bought a complete set of eibach coil overs height adjuststable but not damping. There doesn't seem to be much info about them on the net but it would seem they are the same as kv1 I think I read somewhere but with eibachs own valves, they seem good quality and not been fitted still in the box. They don't come with top mounts.
