All I found there was tyre pressures. But I did find on the front suspension (under bonnet where it bolts on) BMW.BUILT :OCT.00 So I take it its 2000 Every time I have taken it to the garage they plug in the round connector under the bonnet. But I have found under the steering wheel another connector socket but whether its wired in I don't know. (this one is rectangle) Hope this helps. Thankyou for your help...I would go by it's birthday at the factory as cars can and have sat for many months after dealer delivery before first registration date. It can be found I believe on the drivers door post and contains serial number, date of mfg as well as a few other pieces of info. HTH. JIM
I believe its 2000 as it says BMW BUILT OCT 00 under bonnet.Thankyou.Hi @Gilly1
What year is your Z3 as that will allow us to work out which version of the 1.9 you have.
There are 2 sockets on the later Z3, but generally you can access everything you need from the round one.the garage they plug in the round connector under the bonnet
not too sure what a face lift is but it is only a single cam motor and only has 1.8 on the boot. thankyouTypically a 2001 should be an M43 but there are examples of imports being registered late. Rule of thumb though is if it is face lift it is M43
For reference Gilly it's the mainly the back end which was "face lifted" mid way in the production run. A few components where changed at the same time so it's an easy indicator for spotting which model you have!not too sure what a face lift is but it is only a single cam motor and only has 1.8 on the boot. thankyou
they did but could not find a code for this they put the light out but it came back on within a week .as it cost time and money I am going to buy a readerThere are 2 sockets on the later Z3, but generally you can access everything you need from the round one.
Have they found any codes stored when they scanned it?

live in lymington Hampshire but would like to have my own readerCode readers are pretty cheap now so a good thing to keep in the car with you. Where about in the country are you, as there may be someone on here local to you with one who would gladly offer to read them for you!
Something like this should work and do all the engine codes. They are about £40 off eBay at the moment.
