Hello all,

I've a 2000 Z3 M Roadster and on a few occasions recently, it didn't want to start. It's a manual transmission and you have to depress the clutch all the way to the wall to get it to engage the starter. It almost seems like the problem is the clutch pedal position sensor. Anyone have a similar experience? Thanks in advance.

If you have a scanner with BMW software, you can watch the digital inputs of the DME change state as you do things in the car. Both clutch switches are visible.

A couple of Scanners with BMW software:
Thanks NZ00Z3,

That link was very helpful. Downloaded and installed the INPA and TIS software. Seems the problem might be related to the Electronic Immobilizer at the steering column. It might be as simple as a bad key transponder so I'm trying a different key. I'll run the INPA EWS II diagnosis shortly and see what it says.

Thanks again,

Galand
