Hi,
My Z3 has had a bit of clutch judder on it since I purchased it. This only seemed to be the case when it was cold and after a few times pulling away it seemed to stop. As far as I am aware the clutch and more importantly the Dual Mass Flywheel were original and therefore 25 years old with 89K on them.
I had some work done recently (within the last 500 miles), so decided to bite the bullet and get a whole new 4 piece clutch installed at the same time hoping to resolve the issue. I went for a Sachs unit.
This has now all been done , but I am still seeing the some clutch judder when pulling away. It seems a bit random; sometimes it is fine, some times it is not and there does not seem to be any rhyme nor reason for it.
I am also seeing some oil spots on the drive, especially after parking up hot, so I start thinking leaking crankshaft oil seal perhaps? However, the grange that fitted the clutch did not mention any signs of oil ingress in to the bell housing or contamination of the old clutch, which I expect if there was a leak there.
Also the oil spots I am seeing on the drive could be coming from somewhere else, such as a leaking rocker cover gasket, as the oil spots do seem to be in the area around the rear of the engine.
I will be going back to the garage with the problem, but just wanted to see if anyone else has seen this or had any suggestions first.
Many thanks.
