Clutch delay valve

High All Z3 2.8

I am going to change my clutch slave cylinder and flexi fluid feed pipe.

I have seen the UTube clips showing that some take out the clutch delay valve. Apparently this gives a lighter clutch peddle and a more positive clutch operation. Have any z3 owners tried this and if so what do you think of the results please.

No lighter action, but better pedal/clutch interrelationship. The CDV with a fly-by-wire abomination of a throttle makes manoeuvring smoothly impossible. Removing the CDV helps - a little.

If your down that way then it totally makes sense to remove it while your at it. Removed it on every Z3 (and Z4) I've owned and it does make a noticeable difference.

Thanks very much for the info. Think I’ll give it a try I can always re insert the CDV if I don’t like it. Hope the standard length flexi pipe is long enough to fit without the CDV inserted.

Thanks Fred

I didn't replace my hose so, from memory, it is. Actually think I got the local indie to do it while he was doing something else and he would have charged for a hose had it been too short. Unless you're a long standing heavy-footed automatic driver with no clutch sense like the car's target audience across the pond, you will almost certainly prefer it removed. It is intended to make clutch dumping, whether deliberate or accidental, impossible because it slows the return action of the pedal by constricting the fluid flow rate.

Standard hose will fit, however you could look to upgrade it to a braided hose which will also help improve things.

I’m no clutch dumper (made sure I spelt that right) will definitely give it a try. Be a while as she’s got me decorating at the moment deep joy. Will let you know how it goes.

Thanks very much for the info stay safe
