Just sent e mail to the organisers of Clumber, this has been sent my me on behalf of the BMWCC and as a member of ZRoadster.org. If anyone would like to send in further comments to Classic car shows please do.

"On behalf of the BMWCC and as a member of ZRoadster.org thank you for once again putting on a good show.
The only criticism and its a biggy, the route in and out of the arena. Most of our vehicles are sports models not off roaders! The track in was disgusting and many of my members were horrified at the state of their cars on arrival.
2017 although a bit tight offered far better access, and with the amount of available space and good road network at Clumber its hard to understand why we were sent in the way we were. It did feel a bit like the National trust didn't really want us there?
Although our two clubs will no doubt continue to visit your events, for Clumber 2019 we will need some assurances re access to the site being more suitable for show cars not tractors. One question springs to mind did the car and caravans parked on the adjacent field have the same approach road?"

@Paul Rice - I heard that some cars were damaged by this route? Did you mention this to the organizers too?

I wasn't aware first hand of any damage to our groups vehicles, lots of comments on social media so kept my complaint to facts i was aware of and limited it to our exhibitors

Well, Festival of Speed at Goodwood laid down metal plates designed to take traffic over grass areas and rough ground. Made a nice smooth in and out of the parking areas. I was in the VIP Hyper / Super Car parking and there were no complaints at all. So you might suggest to the organisers that they look into these temp access roadways.

We drove for about a mile through woodland on very undulating tracks. the metal plates are great on grassed areas that are smooth ish we were navigating around craters!

@Paul Rice must admit though even some places were a dust bowl. Getting out was interesting as it was one way and some were going one way... just the wrong bloody way to everybody else... I hope it did not sour the day too much for you. I know from organising events, it’s not easy to get everything right.
