Does anyone know where to get the detango clear headlamp lens from? Or do people generally just remove the orange lens and not replace it?

I know there was a guy in Germany doing them. But his web site is no longer there.

I think it was either @Southernboy or @NZ00Z3 who used to sell replica clear lenses, but that was a few years ago.

Otherwise it's a case of forking out for a set of clear lens headlights, or splitting the headlamps to remove the amber lens and putting in silvered indicator bulbs, as I have done.

I suspect the normal route these days is as you say with no lens at all. All ready to open up an old pair to experiment.

Splitting the lamps is quite easy, done mine twice now using both the oven method and heat gun method. The heat gun takes a little longer but I found that you have more control over where the heat goes.

Be very careful If you have the inner lenses with the chrome surround as the plating comes off with the slightest rub (ask me how I know!!!)

Yeah I’m not sure about the oven. I expect I’ll use a heat gun. Good top on chrome rings. Didn’t know that. Though the ones I’ll be using won’t have the chrome rings. Likely to put halo rings in as well while it’s open. Don’t like mods but this is about safety and seeing/being seen better.

I got some off eBay. Just make sure they are RHD. Used the Meguiars two step restoration on them yesterday. Very good product.

What did you get off eBay? Can I have a link?
It was some Lithuanian seller. Shipping was a bit pricey to Australia (it doubled the cost) but far, far cheaper than the $3600 price of new ones and they got here in good shape. Best thing is to just do a search, they pop up from time to time.

Am about to open up my original clear indicator lens headlight as now US. And put the clear indicator lens in replacement lamp unit and remove Amber lens.
Any advice is appreciated as I have no experience with seals etc
Many thanks 🤞
