Since lock down it has given me the opportunity to try out some different products to what i have in my arsenal. I thought i would do a review of the products i use and have used
This is listed as how i do my Z4
1. Snow Foam
I have tried various snow foams
Ultimate Finish Own Product Price £15.95 5l
This gets just an ok for general purpose cleaning but you have to fill the bottle up totally for it to foam so you use about a litre on every wash
Turtle Wax Snow Foam Price £12.80 5l
This again is as the Ultimate Finish own brand.
Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam Price £34.95 5l
This i really like snows up great depending how much you put in a bottle i usually use about half a lance bottle mixed with water this is a lot more expensive but you use a lot less than the others on each wash so although it is expensive it lasts and does more than twice the washes than the others. This is like a syrup mixture.

2. Wash Shampoo
AG Bodywork Shampoo Price £17.50 2.5l
This really works well as with most shampoos lathers up really well but does not seem to be as penetrating on dirt as some of the others.
Gtechniq G wash Price £19.95 1l
This is a very good shampoo especially if you have a nano coating on the car. It does help break down the more stubborn bits of dirt on the car that the AG struggles to do. Quite expensive but you only use 2 caps per bucket so again goes further than the 2.5l of the AG
Auto Finesse Lather Price £19.90 1l
This is very similar to the G Techniq shampoo and very hard to rate one above the other
Meguiars Gold Class Price £20.00 1.89l
Basically a lot more expensive than the AG and does exactly the same is the price worth it to me NO

3. Quick Detailers
Meguiars Ultimate Quick Detailer Price £16 650ml
Not really what it claims it is by no means a quick detailer and seems to be hard work over most of its rivals.
AG Rapid Detailer Price £10.45 500ml
It is what it says seems to be basically a spray on wipe off spray and i feel you could get the same results using a water spray
G Techniq Quick Detailer Price £10 500ml
This is a PH Neutral spray and ideal for Nano Coatings. I think all you get out of this is the same as you would get out of panel wipes unless you have a Nano coating then i feel there are better Detailing Sprays out there
Menzerna Endless Shine Price £16 500ml
I love this spray goes on very easy and does seem to bring out the best before waxing

4. Polish
I have used various polishes but will list the ones i have used over the last couple of years.
AG Super Resin. Price £14 500ml
This is basically a wipe on wipe off polish but does stain plastics and trims for the price it is an ok polish but if your car is already clean the this does not enhance the cleanliness any more than if you did not use it
Meguiars Ultimate Polish Price £16 473ml
Do not expect to be able to do a quick polish on polish off with this it has to be used doing around a 600mm area at a time if it dries then it is a sod to get off and will leave a residue. I think this would be better suited to using as a final polish using a DA Polisher unless you have plenty of time when wanting to do it by hand. It does enhance the paint work more than the AG Super resin
Poor Boys Black Hole. Price £14 473ml
This again is like the AG Super Resin it is great for an off on polish but is better suited to darker cars as it is black in colour
Menzerna Super Finish Plus 3/800 Price £11.95 250ml
This is actually a Machine polish but i use it when doing a full hand polish when i have plenty of time. You use this over a small area at a time by hand wiping on and off and this really does get rid of the splat marks left in the paint by hitting insects and really enhances the paint

When using
5. Machine compounds and polishes.
Menzerna Price around £12 per bottle of compound and polish 250ml
These compounds and polishes are to me very good and do an excellent job of removing swirls
3M Perfect IT
This range i love really does the job and if you buy the 3M pads then they are all colour coded the same as the bottles. Green bottle, Green pad deep cut, yellow bottle yellow pad medium cut and blur bottle blue pad for polishing
Mequiars
I have used this and wont comment
Poorboys
Again compared to the other 2 i use no where near as good

6. Wax
1st i would like to say when it comes to wax i have used the liquid versions such as AG, Meguiars and various others and to be honest they are no substitute for using a proper Carnauba based waxes
On the Waxes i have only ever used 2.
Swissvax Shield Price £55 50ml
Very small pot and quite expensive but a pot of this will probable last 3 years if putting a coat on every 2 months a small bit does go along way. This has PTFE and beads really well really easy to put on and take off. Gives the paint an excellent finish. This has 40% volume of Carnauba Wax
Chemical Guys Petes 53 Black Pearl Price £40 237ml
Just started using this wax and i can already tell the difference especially when it rains, really does make the paint shine and the beading when it gets wet is excellent. This has 53% Volume of Carnauba wax

7. Glass cleaners
I have used most spray on mists on the windows but i just find the cream paste of the AG the best product i have used for doing these

8. Interior
Well what can i say i have used alot of different products but not worth listing as none can beat the AG Vinyl and Rubber care

9. Leather
I have only used the Furniture Clinics leather cleaner and protector when doing the leather

10. Tyre Shine
G Techniq T2 Tyre Dressing Price £4.95 250ml
Gives a shine untill you start driving dont bother
Maguiars Endurance tyre gel Price £14 473ml
Is an ok tyre shine
AG Instant tyre dressing Price £7.75 500ml
Is again an ok tyre dressing
Poor Boys Bold and Bright Gel Price £11.95 473ml
Very good shine but the only trouble is if not left to dry then you will get splatter makes off it onto the paint. I found the best way to use this is to put on the wait a while and wipe the tyre down with a cloth
Thank You

OK I have to ask. (I'm not an enthusiastic washer / polisher) Is snow foam worth it? (never used it but my Karcher has a place to put a bottle on) and what does it do that a bucket of good soapy water and a micro cloth wont? Just asking.

Loosens any stuck on grit so when you jet wash it off there's less chance of scratching your paint work. Works wonders on the family wagon that goes up and down the farm track every day.

Niall the snow foam helps break down the dirt that is on the paint work, you foam the car up leave it to penetrate then hose off, that way most of the dirt that is loose comes off helping prevent moving the dirt over the paint as you would if you just rinsed then washed.

My process is Snow foam, rinse, wash, totally towel dry using a really thick drying micro fibre cloth (soft as f***) Full spray over with detailing spray to get rid of any water marks, Polish either by hand or machine another spray over with detailing spray to get rid of any polish that i may of missed then a full wax usually when i do a full clean it takes me about 4 to 6 hours, but i only need to do this once every 3 months the rest of the time it is just snow foam, rinse, detail and wax and takes about 1 to 1 1/2 hours
The cloths i use are so plush you could use them to wrap a baby in =)) Never use normal micro fibre cloths except for doing the engine bay
The types of cloths i use are as follows i have 3 of each

I do have 2 really soft Micro fibre cloths that i put the Polish and detail spray on with
I always use the same cloths for the same jobs, if it is for buffing the wax off then i only ever use the one the same for the polish and detail. Even though they are the same colour i have them in there own piles so i do not mix them up

If it's the small bottle like most mate I'm not sure you'd get best benefits, the applicator bottles have Induction levels fitted to ensure correct application.
