Well couldn't think of a better title! Simple problem really, on the inside of my alloys there are some sticky scruffy strips, presumably where old balance weights were attached. Anybody got any recommendations for cleaning them off?

Thinners or similar and a plastic pry tool should do the job nicely.

Brake cleaner is very good for this, also for removing the glue that price tickets leave behind.

I've found that 'Lighter fuel' is good on household items to remove price stickers etc, but wondered if there was something the trade used on alloy wheels. I once used something (can't remember what)to clean the adhesive from my headlights after having beam deflectors on from going abroad. Disaster, ended up having to get the lights repolished because of a reaction with the plastic. Have to be careful with different materials.

Yep me too, and it said it was safe on acrylics and plastics

Brake cleaner doesn’t affect plastics.

Actually, as I mentioned before, lighter fuel is very good. I always use it on my headlights to remove the adhesive from beam deflectors after the disaster with some 'special' stuff I bought. Anyway, I got some 'Tar off' today and that helped clean the stuff off my alloys.
