Well i gave into the lockdown and had a cheeky 4 hour run out around the Peaks. Then we stopped for a bit of a picnic that we put up found a nice spot to sit down with flask of coffee and carried out the social distancing.
Notice the distance of the chairs in the last pic

Nope only got out the car when safe to do so even queued up to go into Morrisons at Buxton to pick some essentials up and take a much essential pee break.
Never even scared any cyclists as gave them a wide berth =))

You don't get it, do you?

I gave you more credit than that. Going on a 4 hour drive is adding risk into the system. Every journey adds risk. The longer the journey, the higher the risk.

Social distancing is reducing the primary risk to you. Most of the secondary risk was eliminated by you being in your car with a social partner (no need to social distance the picnic chairs). The tertiary risk is the others whom you may put at risk, such as the emergency services and others whom you may force to be in contact with you if anything goes wrong.

Yes i do get it. We add risk into the system on a daily basis. Was it necessary NO but it may of helped our mental state as we have not left the house apart from work or shopping not even for exercise as we get that going to work. We have not seen the kids or family's apart from through glass windows and doors, so yes it was nice to get out and do something enjoyable.
I have to attend various buildings throughout the week and travel quite a lot regarding my job, there is never a day at work i do not have to meet people but it is done within the social distance guidelines, so when we went for a drive, We posed no further threat (if anything we posed less) to either transmitting it or catching it than we do going to work every day that we have done nearly all the way through this.
We did take more precautions when we went out, we never parked in any car parks, only stopped where their were no people around and drove at a very leisurely pace (due to car being stood for 5 months)
Regarding putting emergency services and others at risk this if it was in a risk assessment put to minimal due to the fact that i look after the car and would not drive it if i thought it may breakdown, which to be honest could happen to any of the vehicles we have on any given day.
Regarding the Supermarket we planned this stop so we did not do the Saturday Supermarket run so again we limited the risk.
We always carry in any of the cars we go either to work or shopping in. Sanitiser, gloves, wipes and even masks
So did i put others or our selves at risk anymore to going shopping, walking past runners or going to work 6 days a week.
I think not

Glad you enjoyed your day with your lovely Z :)
We’re went out and about yesterday, it was lovely to get out and go for a drive after being stuck in for weeks :)
It was a beautiful day for a roof down , we did see a couple of Zs that still had the tops on , got to make the most of the beautiful weather we’re having ;)

With you on this one Bill.....We went out yesterday too, NEEDED to. Had best part of 7 weeks stuck at home, I rate myself as a strong person emotionally, but I have found it hard like everyone else. I got home yesterday evening with a big smile on my face. Am I glad we got out of the house. Darn right I am. I have to face the supermarket trip every week and that is 100 times worse for social distancing than what we did yesterday.

Number 1 on the Stay Alert List...

"Stay at home as much as possible"

I use my blue car to do as many journeys as possible. It's just a shame that I can't carry that many boxes of face shields in the passenger seat.
Sunday 17/5/2020 at home 19.5 hours out of 24 hours
Saturday 16/5/2020 at home 24 hours out of 24 hours
Sunday 10/5/2020 at home 24 hours out of 24 hours
Saturday 9/5/2020 at home 22 hours out of 24 hours (2 hours at the supermarket)
Friday 8/5/2020 bank holiday at home 24 hours out of 24 hours
Days during the week at work 10 hours and at home 14 hours think i am pretty much covering that 1st one

If you had volunteered to drive for one of the many COVID charities you could have enjoyed the views on empty roads.

I needed volunteers (even asked for them on here), but you missed your chance.

A necessary trip from Nottingham to Manchester over the hills and not another car to be seen - bliss.

Trouble is i am working around 10 hours a day and i am not getting paid OT Rates only single time and i am having to do on call every couple of days due to having limited Engineers in. I was on call last Saturday and i am on call again this Saturday and also having to do 1 to 2 days in the week so i can not commit to anything other than work. I did think about doing something if i got fully Furloughed but as it was i did not get put onto it as i was deemed Essential to the Company. (think all those lies i told them paid off) =))

The guys on Furlough are actually getting more than us as they get 80% of their average 2019 wages as this includes OT up to the 2.5k we are just getting our basic which works out around 2.4k so we get less for actually going to work

That's a bum deal mate but that said, when we get through this many businesses will realise that they perhaps no longer need the same amount of staff as before. By working you remain highly visible in the shop window.

I was / am a registered NHS Covid responder and had absolutely no requests for help at all. Many others have expressed the same view.

Yeah it’s pants at the moment but will probably stand you in good stead over the next 12 months, which I reckon are going to be pretty tough on jobs/everything.

I work on machine tools and my team has gone from 70+ Working to 20 currently..

That's the government scheme. I've been coordinating the making of 3d masks in Derbyshire (www.3dcrowd.org.uk). We are the only organisation that has been allowed to continue. We have had to resort to BikeShed as we have run out of drivers, especially to the farthest parts of the county.

If you want a free pass, get in touch ;)

I've been on call as well, but I only cover out-of-hours.

Happy to help, that is why I signed up especially having an enhanced DBS. Do you want to PM me?
