Cheap add on ?

I have been browsing Z3s on Autotrader and didn’t see this roadster “strip” on any of the door cills.
Was it a cheap after market addition?
As you can see the years have not been kind to it.

Both of my z3s have and had theese.
One was a w reg the other current z is an x reg.

Thanks did you have problems with the lacquer coating?

Standard piece, but they suffer from corrosion, particularly in the UK, so some people take them off. Pity no-one has ever made stainless steel replacements.

Thanks . That makes sense. Nervous to remove in case the glue has marked the black plastic underneath

Absolutely
