Well we fetched the Z this evening and it looks as good as it did in the photos with the added bonus of extended leather dash too! 4 new Conti tyres, pads and discs all round in the last few thousand miles. New o/s front brake calliper 2 years ago so probably the near side that's playing up now. The engine is sweet as a nut and pulls very strong with the temp gauge dead centre. Only downside is the clutch does not bite until the pedal is almost out so worst case it may need a new clutch but at the moment it does not slip and the gear change is nice and light. The heater leaks onto the ground under the car and not into the cabin which could just be a good sign but it was too dark when we got home to start poking about. Now the fun starts.

Well done @Lazzzydog !
Not only that it was not a breakable car, but at this mileage and combo, is a car to not let it go! For that ridiculous price!;)
Many smiles & miles!:)

I should really be writing this in d-I-y frustrations. I had the car booked in for mot at 4 o clock today so I spent the first part of this morning freeing off the near side calliper and checking over the steering. I got the calliper way better but I will still replace it at the weekend. The car drove home really nicely so I wasn't surprised when I could find nothing wrong with the steering or front suspension. Swapped a couple of dud bulbs for good ones and the car was as ready as it was likely to be today. All went really well and I had a couple of hours to kill before mot time so I decided to get the interior boot light working. Bad decision! I faffed about for ages but decided it is likely to be a break in the wiring so left it for another day, but what I didn't do was recheck the lights and begger me I must have somehow blown fuse 33 while messing with the boot light because the near side position lights were not working at the test and that's all she failed on! I was last test of the day and too late for retest but the upside is all I have to do is nip back down tomorrow and this £800 car is good to go for 12 months. Result but I could give myself a good kicking for getting such a stupid fail.

Even with the mot fail it's a result for £800.

For £800 you got an absolute bargain. The body panels look straight and the paint work looks mighty fine. Don't think the pictures the bloke had posted do the car any justice.

Wow a real bargain! I recognise that plate. I'm sure it was a .net car. The guy used to do Lotherton and Newby?

Leave that boot light well alone until you can be sure of all the wiring. Make sure the terminal cannot come loose and arc on the body.
That light nearly sent my whole car up in smoke.
Oh and use genuine fuses on that not Halfords ones. That was the worst 5p I've ever spent!
Instead of blowing the fuse it meted and melted half my wiring loom while the light was arcing away whilst driving.

Bloody nice buy, enjoy that big 6 and lsd!

In all honesty @Grumps its one more zed on the road that wouldn't have been had I got my hands on it.

It would have looked like this in a week =))

However, having said that... The parts would have gone into making one mighty fine Z3:whistle:

I booked it in for mot before I bought it so that I could drive it home thinking I would cancel it this morning but when I checked it over I was pretty confident it would pass, which it would have done if not for my stupidity.

You would have made more selling this one as a runner. It is absolutely rust free with just a few paint blemishes, the worst on the boot lid but nothing too horrific. The interior is almost like new, 3.5k all day long at a dealer.

He did not say anything about showing it but this was his 3rd Z so it's likely he has been at a few events. A really nice guy originally from Scotland. Reading between the lines I think he has had a bum steer from his regular garage as the only thing it should have failed an mot on was a sticking calliper, £60 plus an hours labour and she would have been good to go, and fix the heater over the winter when it's off the road.

MOT passed yesterday after swapping the blown fuse and recon calliper fitted this morning so she's a goer for £900 including the mot fee. All the pads and discs are only slightly worn so that should be it for brakes for 12 months. I am putting off looking at the heater leak as something will have to spoil the party and I expect this will be the thing to do just that. However it does not leak when it is switched off so I am going to enjoy the car for now until curiosity gets the better of me. Happy days.

Drive it during the summer and fix it during the winter.

Curiosity did get the better of me this week so I started driving the car with the heater on to determine the extent of the coolant leak and after 100 miles of driving in tropical temperatures it has not lost a drop. Crazy!
I thought I would post this here as a footnote to this thread but have drawn some conclusions which I have explained in my progress thread.

Try it with the A/C running and check the result as has been mentioned! Could just have been condensation running off! JIM
