Hi,

I replaced the latches on the bonnet with new ones as they had a little surface rust and was pretty shocked when I removed the left hand one and saw the amount of rust on the back. The bonnet has minimal surface rust which I cleaned and treated. The right hand latch had some surface rust on the front but none on the back at all.

I couldn’t find a good procedure for adjusting the latches, so I marked the location carefully and put them back in the same position.

As a guide see below link but I purchased elsewhere, number 10 and 11 were changed.

Just wanted to share another place where rust can hide.

Yes, mine were a bit horrible but I'd never noticed them. I think you naturally look down at the engine as soon as you open the bonnet!

I replaced them with 2nd hand ones but they came from the US and were in good condition.

Word to the wise - tape a piece of white paper/tissue over the latch hole on the slam panel. Put a spot of grease on the slotted latch pin. Then lower the bonnet carefully so that the pin touches the paper but doesn't dislodge it. The grease spot on the paper shows where the pin landed. Adjust the position on the bonnet accordingly.
