Hi,

Well the installed player has gone all funny on the screen and doesnt have the needed mp3 connectivity so, what do you recommend? I had a look at one unit called parrot (?) that had a wealth of connectivity but, I wondered what people generally went for on here. If I could find it cheap enough, I have thought of wifi'ing the Zed too.

Anyone who has laboured down this route already please feel free to pass on your pearls of wisdom :)

I swapped ours for an Alpine unit with a single CD player and ditched the 6-changer from the boot.
(The Alpine orange backlight is a near perfect match for the Z night time illumination)
It's got iPod and USB ports on the back and I don't think we have ever used the CD facility.
If you want a DVD/CD player your choice may be more restrictive.
Halfords often sell off stock ends and display models - it may be worth a look if you're not over fussy on model, style etc.

I fitted a Sony Mex-BT3800U head unit, which had USB port and Bluetooth built in. Very good sound quality, way better then the OEM business CD.

Only downside I found was that it was like Blackpool illuminations in the car at night. Just too bright, and mainly down to a stupid white LED surrounding the big dial! There was a 'dim' setting, but it dimmed everything apart from this white LED...

Becker Cascade, generally regarded as the best OEM looking aftermarket headunit for the Z3's.

Expensive if you can find one but has everything, sat nav, bluetooth, full Ipod control (the best ipod interface I've seen as replicates the unit itself), GAL, etc.... and it looks like it is OEM....

This car is getting expensive....I think I will need to lurk in the wings and wait for a Becker to show up either here or Fleabay. Till then it's dodgy Business CD player!

I was looking at my dash and wondering

the units with the motorised screen, when they come out do they not hit the vents?

looking at it the unit sits further in.

If it does hit the vents has anybody got a photo from the side to see the angle the screen sits at?

I take it you can sill use and see all the screen ok.

No they dont hit the vents, but i dont recomend having the screen up when the heater is on as there is a possability of making it overheat. We have no problems at all and the screen is totally vertical.

If you get one with a Ferrari badge on £750 plus 2nd hand, I got mine for £400ish 2nd hand off eBay.

I don't think you can buy them anymore but there used to be a few for sale on German eBay
