Thanks Gaz but no mine is nothing like this one. Mine is sceured to the boot lid by 3, 8mm nuts with built in washers. When you lift he steel top panel clear of the boot lid and turn it over the light source is attached to the underside by 3 small torx screws. The cable runs to a 2pin connector at the top edge ot the boot lid. I honestly doesn't look as though it will come apart. I will try Mark at Sopers on Tuesday.
Just as a by the way do you know the web address where you can check the spec of your car when it was built please mate. I been meanig to check mine out of curiosity.
T-tony, I believe your build date should be on the compliance sticker on the driver door post, it represents the last step in the completion of your car on the line. It will differ from the registration date of your vehicle and could be widely varied dependant upon how quickly your car was shipped and sold. This date really comes into play for me with importing as the vehicle must be 15 yrs old as of the build date not the year of the vehicle. ie: legally I can now bring in 99 models with a build date of anytime before the 25th of may and possibly a 2000 if the build date is before that date. Bulb replacement in pre facelift is easy, replacement bulbs are available. Post facelift I believe has LEDs soldered to a PCB, I was reading about this the other day (cannot find the link to save my life this AM). If soldering is not your thing, Spurs may have a good one off one of the cars he is selling?
