Guys, I don't want to take the full console out, just the 2 fascia parts, can this be done or are there any fixings underneath, just want a heads up as its Saturday tomorrow which means Z day, thanks

Sorry mate it has to come out to get to various phillips screws from the underside.

Easy enough, but getting it to lift over the handbrake lever I always find hard to avoid scratch the roll hoop trim or part of the dash.

So I had a look last week and found 4 screws in the radio surround, are all the rest external or are there more hidden

There is one under the ash tray two at the back behind the seats and four at the front two either side with the plastic caps on where it meets the dash.

I did it on my project zed twice, it's not as hard as it seems. I'd say someone like yourself will probably manage it in half an hour. But then again I have 2 pre face lift zeds.

Two external at rear of console either side, two hidden under alarm light panel to secure to rear cubby box, one under ashtray, two either side of console at front, small Philips screws on underside of panels and one in centre just below clock (again on underside). With radio out you'll see two plastic clips at bottom of aperture, these clip the heater controls in situ at the top. Lift these tabs up and the heater controls will tilt rearwards at the top enough to allow you to lift them up sufficiently to disengage its lower seating. Undo the electrical connector blocks and the console should come out. As others say it can be a bind getting it over the handbrake

Getting it over the handbrake lever should be made easier by simply slackening off both the cable slack adjusters which will allow the lever to come to a more upright position. You could take the cables completely off and unbolt the lever from the floor if you can access the bolts through the aperture. I can't remember if that is possible or not. Either way slackening the cables off will help.

Tony.

You can drive it no problem without the console in, just put the gear knob back on and move everything out of the way. Mine was like this for a couple of weeks whilst I was waiting for some parts :banghead:

Is there anywhere that shows which screws go where when replacing the centre console. I had a look on real OEM, which is great for part nos. not quite so good at showing which screws go where?
