The button on the top of the passenger door does not go down and the door does not lock when using the central locking.

Need to takethe door card off to see whats happening inside, could be a link thats come off or a duff actuator, until you get in there its just a guessing game. If you have a code reader capable of reading the chassis module then you might have a code set that might lead you to the right direction of the fault.BMW INPQA and Bmw Scanner 1.4 should be able to read the module.
I think from memory it may give you codes but in my INPA at least they are in German and I can’t find references on internet. I used google translate and what it was saying was either left, right or boot.

Took the card off the passenger door today to check on why the button does not go down.
When trying the system with the buttons on the key the actuator does not seem to be working at all. As far as I can tell by feel, all the linkages are intact.
My guess is that it needs replacing, but to be sure I need to get to it.
Does anyone have one for sale?

Test it direct to a battery I did my boot one which only worked one way other side dead.
Got a working second hand one rom @spursfaninacoupe for my 2002 3.0l and still working fine Geoff
