I recently got my 3.0 facelift z3 and have had trouble with the central locking. I did some trouble shooting over the weekend and I'm unsure on how to progress.
The remote key doesn't work at all.
When opening with the key at driver door it opens driver door + boot but immediately locks itself until the 3rd attempt or it will work on 1st attempt if i I hold the key in the unlock position while it tries to lock itself. when unlocking from the boot it has the same behaviour, opens then tries to lock itself unless holding in unlock position and the passenger door still doesn't open.
First thing i looked at was the boot loom expecting torn cables everywhere. But after cutting open the loom sheath it was clean. I even checked behind the boot latch. ( I had to tape up 1 cable i nicked with the blade)
After seeing a clean loom, I plugged in my laptop and from INPA I was able to lock and unlock all doors. with no issue, so from the computer I was able to lock and unlock every lock. So to me this would indicate it is the signal from the central locking unit..
I then took the door card off the driver door to take a look at the door lock and see the red cable from a yellow connector completely disconnected! since it had broken off at the connector i though best to cut off a little either side then just connect the relevant cables with block connectors (temp). Though this hasn't resolved anything and there is still not change in locking behaviour.
Anyone have any idea on how to go forward with this electrical gremlin?
Thanks in advance.
