I thought I'd ask for some feed back on the armrest subject... I've had a couple of members ask about getting one from me and I'd really like to help them out. I'm talking about the armrest which fits onto the OEM plastic cup holder unit. I make these and upholster them in leather and supplied them in the past at £65 incl postage. This price will need to increase to £70 to cover postage increases here unfortunately.
My problem is that if I order components to make them (incl leather) I have to make up a minimum of 5 units to break even.
So, since I have 2 guys wanting an arm rest, if there's 3 other people who will also want, then I can help.
Below is a pic of the armrest with the OEM cup holder so you can see waht I mean... I don't supply the cup holder - they can be found on eBay or might even be available new ex BMW.
The leather colour for most of these armrests is black, but I have made some in beige, red and blue. The problem with the other colours - not black - is matching to your car. Two choices:- 1. I can make it up in a very light beige colour, and you get some leather dye from Furniture Clinic (or wherever) which matches your original interior colour. Or.. 2. I can make it up in a red / blue / beige leather, and you still have to dye it to match, but it may be easier than using beige as the base colour.
This is a pic of my armrest in my previous 2.8 (two tone)
.....And pic of the OEM cup holder you will need. These are often available on eBay at around £25 - £45... but it may be worth calling BMW and check out the new price. They also come without the ashtray, so be aware of that option.
