hi all,

I have searched high and low (even other forums!) and cannot seem to find a thread or instruction on how to remove the cd mutlichanger from a facelift Z3. I wan to mine out to get some room back in the less than capacious boot.

Are they any tips I can pick up please (noddy instructions). Including whether I need to disconnect fuses etc. And what the original business BMW head unit will think of it missing.

Many thanks to anyone reading and contributing

Dave

Personally I would have thought just unplug it and unbolt and remove. I doubt it will make any difference to the head unit.

Unplug it

Remove the screws holding it to the cage

Done

Better to just have a look at it

Thanks all,

So get rid of the carpet around it to show the screws - at first glance I struggled to see where the fixtures were.

Either going a bit blind or just plain lazy (sorry)

Yes, remove the clips from the top edge of the liner and it will expose the changer and bracket, remove the lot, there are 3 bolts holding the bracket to the car, just losen them as the bracket slides on, remove to multi plugs and job done, however this leaves a gaping hole in the liner but you can get a replacement liner.

.... but they're quite like Rocking Horse Poo;) The price of these has risen since I got one for my Z3 from Andy @spurs fan in a coupe at a great price, picked up by my wife from a dodgy geezer just off the M1.=))=))

@DaveP, Are you keeping the business radio? If not I'm interested in buying one! Does the CD still work also?? Thanks, JIM
Hi Jim,

I am considering replacing the radio too with a newer model (USB Bluetooth etc). I need to check the cd works before removal although previous seller insisted it worked).

I can let you know. If you want to pay air fare I'll bring it over :)

So I see. I think I will do a bodget and leggit job on the remainder of the carpet. I'm not too precious on the look as long as I don't eff it up too much.

I do have a 'humpless' boot carpet, not mint but would look better than a big hole, just in Woking so not far if you wanted to have a look

Heya ,

Thanks for the suggestion. Once I have taken a look I might take you up on that offer

@DaveP don't forget to pull the radio code from the business radio BEFORE removal if that's what you decide to do. I'm still certainly interested in both items but more so on the radio as I have a couple of unproven CD players already to be shipped to me via @BMBabe when she gets time to tackle it. Thanks, JIM
