Cat stolen.

The people who live a bout 400 yards directly across from me on the canal side had the cat stolen off their car last night and it was in the car park right next to the main road over the Lock as there is no vehicular access to their home only the old towpath (footpath).
I’ll be making sure the security lights are all working here. The buggers have no nerves at all.

Unfortunately @t-tony your security lights will only help them see what they are doing rather than deter them.
I have watched a good number of cat theft videos generally takes less than 3 minutes from start to finish.
Car they turn up in is usually stolen these guys are generally organised and have no fear if you confront them generally they will pull weapons ( knives ,swords etc ) on you as they know even if you went straight back in your house and phoned 999 they will be long gone before police arrival.
Thankfully at the moment this type of theft is still quite rare in Scotland .

Some scumbag stole the cat from my Honda Accord just over a year ago. They butchered the exhaust and ripped both sensors out of the loom. It cost me over £1000 to put it right, and I sold the car soon after. It was parked on our village car park about 50yds from my house

I believe they can only prosecute if they find the body. So I'm told . . . (shrugs)

The one advantage those of us especially who have an earlier z3 which were euro 2 so no great money in the cat compared to the newer stuff so less likely to get hacked off .
Japanese stuff does seem to be desirable ( the prius especially) they must use more precious metals in their cats than equivalent European models
