My next visit was to Rev's (Nick's) castle er..I mean house. I truly enjoyed his company and hospitality. It was a pleasure to meet his family who made me feel right at home. My 'agreement' with him was that I would be allowed to take him and his family to dinner. Nick, however, had other plans. He had invited some of the forum members to his house, some of which he had never met, for a BBQ. This allowed me to meet several other forum members in a very casual setting before I would have met them at the Rutland cruise. The dining area was a very spacious room where we were all able to sit together at one large table. I regret not taking some video of the beautiful dinner and settings. One of the guests brought Key Lime Pie, the recipe of which was recently posted on this forum. It was the best I've ever had. Nick cooked several types of meat on the BBQ and we had our pick of what we wanted. His wife made quite a beautiful salad among other items. Just a perfect evening. Met the BadMan, and Mike and Sandy and James among others.
We went to Sandringham House the next day. When pulling out of Nick's driveway and up to the end of the street, Nick is about to make a right to go to the front of his house. I tell him that before making the right turn, it causes me concern about how he is on the left side of the street preparing to make a right to pull into the left lane. I tell him I'm used to pulling into the right lane. HOW SILLY OF ME. I DIDN'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS. The day before, which was the first time he ever set eyes on me, I gave him a perfect example of how I'm used to turning when, after passing his house and turning at the first right, I make a u-turn, go back up to his street and make a left back to his house and he watches as I turn into the wrong lane into oncoming traffic. He already knew what kind of driving I was capable of. After possessing this knowledge, isn't it a wonder he allowed me to follow him in his Z8?
There is a brief video from Sandringham House, After Nick treats me to lunch, I head to East Anglia and the John Barleycorn for dinner with the EAC. Very Enjoyable. I feel right home with everyone. I am treated as 'one of the group'. Feels good, and we have a good time.
The next day, I'm off to Duxford with Mike and Ian who presents me with a "Zroadster" shirt. It is the one I'll wear the next day on the Rutland cruise. There is so much to see. I run out of battery power for the video camera and only have a short piece of the day. That evening, I am treated to dinner by Mark and Mike at an old Pub that is very charming. It is quite a nice dinner and I enjoy the hospitality of my hosts. BMG is not the man we seem to make out to be on the forum. He is quite a gentleman and a very warm person. It was quite a pleasure meeting him. I stay over at his house that night and we head out to the Rutland cruise the next day. In the morning, Mark has a brief example of my driving in the UK and soon after politely asks "would you like me to drive?" when we are both in the same car together, realizing this configuration would give him an infinitely better chance of survival.
The end of this video is the picnic right before we take to the cars for the cruise. I am very much surprised to see Miller 1098 and his wife again as they weren't originally going to go on the cruise. It is wonderful to see him as I thought I would never see him again after I had left his house.
The cruise is on the next clip as it is filmed in its entirety and is quite long. Frankie.
