Hi All,

I recently purchased my car at the start of this year. Having accidentally stumbled upon the progress thread on here for my new car which was owned by @GazHyde, I thought I would create my own thread for the car, as I can see quite a few of you where following Gaz's thread and may be interested to see the car now. I don't get much time so I'll try and keep it updated but it won't be as detailed as Gaz's previous thread.

For those that don't know, it's a Z4 Roadster, 3.0SI Sport, 2007. The car on the whole is fantastic! Since owning the car I have done the following;
  • Fog light blanking plates (fogs had been removed when I purchased the car)
  • Gloss black kidney grills
  • Front & rear spacers (20 & 25mm). Won't be to everyone's taste, I was going to go for the usual 20 back & 12 (i think) fronts, but I thought I'd go for a more aggressive look - No issues with rubbing as far as I can tell
  • H&R springs all round - I didn't realise the car already had Eibach's on, but as I already bought them I've switched them over anyway.
  • LED sidelights
  • LED number plate bulbs
  • Callipers & radiator bars behind the grill painted yellow to match the interior
Future plans are as follows;
  • Currently booked in for the following at the end of this month - Inspection 2, Coolant flush, brake fluid flush, change gearbox oil and diff oil, was getting the CDV removed too.. however I can see it has already been removed by Gaz!
  • x4 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports OR the new Potenza Sports if I can find any at a good price, rears are £260 each for some reason!! The current run flats are terrible and there's not much tread left either. Will be getting these done next month.
  • Full 4 wheel alignment
  • Upgrade the Halogens to LED
  • Ordered some red pre cut vinyl tint to make the indicators on the taillights red so they match the rest of the lights
  • Maxton spoiler (don't want anything too OTT, thsi seems the best bet)
  • 108 alloys refurbed
  • Exhaust - not sure on this yet, perhaps the backbox mod or a complete delete
  • ZHP or Stormwerks gear knob
  • Wind deflector - Again not sure what to do yet, really wanted the roadster solutions Perspex which is mounted but it's discontinued. Don't like the Velcro strap Perspex ones, don't like the "gimp" one, not a fan of the mesh either.
  • Smaller sized number plates
There's a few niggles too, heated driver wing mirror glass doesn't work, PDC sensors where temperamental now don't work at all, passenger mirror electrics don't work, needs a new front bumper, 3rd brake light has a small crack and a couple LEDs don't work, needs new BMW badges all round (bonnet wheels etc). The bonnet and passenger door need a respray, and the rear bumper has a deep scratch that will probably require a respray too and a very smell dent penny sized dent on the rear quarter.

That looks to be a pretty good summary of how I sold it on to the guy who sold it on to you! If it's any use to you figuring out it's history it did spend a fair bit of time on SORN during my ownership, and I also loaned it to a mate for a while as well (he had planned to buy it but that didn't happen). All the paper records went in the car to him but didn't return with it. That would have been all the receipts for general servicing supplies (oils, filters, spark plugs etc), suspension components and pretty much everything else I'd done to it.

As a personal recommendation avoid the perspex deflectors, I tried one and hated it as it forces air down behind the drivers seat and towards the footwells. Perfect on a hot day, but miserable when driving it roof down when its cold. No one likes either of the mesh versions at first, but they work so much better. Function over form ;)

Cheers Gaz. It is a real shame that there isn't any receipts but on the other hand I think I got the car for a fair price - I was told the car had been self serviced and having seen your thread its clear the car has been well maintenaned and looked after by yourself.

Thanks for the suggestion - Do the wind deflectors actually make a huge difference? I've only driven the car without one and the wind doesn't seem that bad, hair blows around a little bit haha but I always expected that would happen in a convertible anyway? I think I'll probably keep an out out for the fixed mesh ones with the roll hoop inserts
