A rare beast the Liana, never set the sales charts alight. I wouldn't want to star in one even if it was reasonably priced !!

Those are the most hateful things going!

I saw a ford focus saloon today, cannot for the life of me see the point in one of these over a hatchback / estate version

They hark back to the Escort /Orion & Astra / Belmont days where Ford and Vauxhall were selling the same car in different body styles as two different cars, if I remember correctly they were made to stop doing it and call both body styles by the same name. I guess some people just like saloons. Also the hatch isn't popular (or wasn't) in the states so saloons (Sedans) were really aimed at that market and the Focus is a very popular car over there.

May be I have then, but I'm not really a Top Gear fan, don't think I've seen more than a dozen episodes ever

had an orion ghia... unfortunately it was an automatic thought it would be cool as my brother had a granada 2.8 ghia automtaic... big mistake... was the slowest car ever... and to top it all it was the carburetted version not the fuel injected... see if i can find a pic.. theres one of my missus and kids somewhere..
also nearly bought a ford probe as fancied it in cardiff... put down £100 deposit for some jobs to be done on it never ruterned though as changed my mind and bought a mazda mx3 1.8 v6 smallest v6 engine in the world at the time.. drunk more oil than fuel....

Was given a Liana as a hire car on a holiday to Crete over 10 years ago. Don't know how many engine options the Liana came with but this must have been fitted with the smallest as it couldn't keep up with the hundreds of Daewoo Matiz's that seemed to be everywhere - reasonably priced? You wouldn't really want one at any price!
