It is shocking, the car stolen in that video is the very same as my other car, a Mrec C class, { funny enough even the same model and colour}

I use a Faraday Bag, pop the keys in that when i get home, to stop this kind of thing happening at my house.

This is the one i use, and yes it does work, i can have the keys in the bag standing next to the car and it will not open, open the bag and the car will open.

I remember some years back a guy developed a screen that blacked out if a code wasn't entered, unfortunately no one was interested in it apart from the South African government, not heard anything about it since.

That's a bloody good idea. Does it not need constant communication with the car?

That's a great idea, so simple to do, like the old Peugeot 106's used to have.

But in reality the car makers sell another car each time one is stolen so not sure they'll bother.

I'd love to know where all these cars are going, they can't be selling on with different identities as I'd have come across some. They must be broken for parts I reckon, or going in containers abroad.

Stealing them in the way they do nowadays with key cloning software means they wont have the keys, so wont be able to restart it?

Or does the software store the info?

If people were having to get new keys that's be easy for the Police to trace.

The worst kind of car theft is where they break into your house for the keys, and if they don't find them easily they wake you up for them offering violence if you don't give in, or worse, violence towards another family member.

Luckily this is still rare, but Birmingham area seems to have quite a problem with it.

It's a scary world we live in nowadays, wont be long before the public feel they need to arm themselves somehow.

Don't think so, I put sticky back velcro on the back and sit it above where we keep the keys, come hpme and pop the key in and close the flap.

Manufacturers know about this for years yet they just offer you optional floor mats instead of a pouch for your key...

I wonder how soon the Mercedes app that controls the car gets hacked...
