Both mirrors are now free and moving.
I used the electrics to move the mirror over to one side and sprayed WD40 inside the casing. I then used the red tube which comes with the can and forced it into the gap between the mirror housing and the base that fixes to the door. I worked out where the spring was by using the photo supplied by Mazza and gave it a good soaking in WD40. Within a few minutes it was free and working. Result!!

Do all Zs mirrors move :p
Don't think mine do unless they are stuck ;)

Done mine with WD40, and they work now. =))
Might get some spray grease and flood the spring with it.

If the door mirror is made up of two separate sections I would have thought that it should move. I would assume that a static mirror would be in a single unit.

I'm sure mine is a double unit @Dalek :p
I'll look in the shed and get some WD40 and give it a go :)
Hope I don't pull the mirror off as they haven't been moved for 8 years =))

Patience is the key. Let the WD40 do its stuff! Do not force anything as the unit will snap off if you apply too much pressure.
Also remember that the mirror will lift slightly as you turn it. Good Luck.

Every time I read about problem parts on here, it rattles round my brain until I have to take the stuff apart to check it properly.

Hence today....

Got them apart, give them a proper clean, and they have a nice smooth action now ( used anti seize copper grease)
Then put them back together, which was ok other than pushing the glass in was a bit scary.
I did put a trace of grease on the 4 lugs just to help it click into position.
