Both my wing mirrors were stuck and would not turn in. I have soaked both in WD40 for three days now and the passenger side now moves. The drivers side is still solid but I don’t want to put too much pressure on it in case I break it!
Any ideas on what else I can try to get it to move?

Take it easy first time out incase they're solid. It takes a bit of pressure to turn them in even when good.

Remove the glass, you will fins 4 very small tork screws, remove them and the case comes off allowing you to see any progress you are making, I tried to free one on the 2.8 but gave up and snapped it.

How do you remove the glass?

Just found this ( dont know where ! =))) but it looks like its probably the spring that seizes up...might try using an extention on the WD and getting up inside to lubricate the spring area.

Very gently pry it away from one corner, its clipped in
Make sure it is not too cold when you do this as the plastic gets brittle. The recent hot weather was perfect but now I would suggest warming it up a bit.

The best way to not break them is to leave it alone, just saying.... :)

With the plastic mirror housing removed, use broad bladed screwdrivers to try and lift the casting assembly (holding the mirror motor) up off the base, they usual fuse together. This action will compress the very stiff spring, once lifted, even slightly, squirt your preferred brand of oil in and work the mirror head back and forth. Unless you break the 'fusion' between mirror head and base you will just snap it off. The action of turning the mirror head actually lifts the head up against spring tension.
