I've owned my z3 for 15 years or so and although I have a garage, it's outside in all weather.
A couple of years ago it developed a leak that I just couldn't trace. Carpets were sodden.
I was doing something with the radio so hands deep in the center console when I noticed drips from under the heater.
Outside. Removed the wiper arms and that piece of plastic that covers the heater air intake and found two rubber drain tubes that were full if muck. Basically water fills up the air intake box and overflows into cabin.
Cleaned the drain tubes and, voila, no more leak. Took a while to dry out but now it's dry.
